Replying to a question raised by MP K. Gopinath, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said PMAY-U and PMAY-U 2.0 are being implemented to provide all-weather pucca houses with basic civic amenities to eligible urban beneficiaries across the country. The minister informed the House that in Jammu & Kashmir, 42,584 houses have been sanctioned under PMAY-U 2.0, while 3,398 houses have been grounded. He added that while the assessed urban housing demand in 2017-18 was around 112 lakh houses, more than 127 lakh houses have already been sanctioned under PMAY-U and PMAY-U 2.0 combined, exceeding the estimated demand—(KNO)
